National Syndicate of Judges: “Authorities should give us effective power”
National Syndicate of Judges called upon the authorities to strengthen the role of judges in the election and give broad and effective powers to the elections monitoring committee, saying that there are imbalances which limit the power of the judge in the local and legislative elections, and make him/her just a sham and formality power.
The syndicate demanded the reconsideration of elections’ law, in order to reach a total supervision of judges from the start the electoral process until the end, to take responsibility.
President of the National Syndicate of Judges, Djamel El Aidouni hinted on Monday, in a press conference held at the syndicate’s bureau, in his speech about dropping the tasks of the National Committee for Monitoring Elections, by saying that the organic law of the elections determines only three points about the judges, while there are 17 points that are all related to the National Committee for Monitoring Elections, powers that are – according to the speaker – limited for judges who have received some criticism from parties, regarding neglecting their responsibilities in the last elections.
“This is exaggerated, I challenged by the way, any official to submit an evidence that implicates the judges in law violation.
Representatives of the parties left their place and allowed fraud”.
