National team coach Benchikha to call up new players ahead of Algeria-Tunisia friendly match

The national team coach Abdelhak Benchikha is expected to make public in the next 48 hours the list of the players of the Algeria squad ahead of the friendly international game versus Tunisia slated for the the 9th of February 2011 at the 5th of July Olympic stadium of Algiers.

  • The list of the called-up players will be unveiled by Benchikha prior to the start early next week of the training camp of the Algeria line-up in expectation of the Tunisia friendly match as part of the preparations for the 2012 Africa cup of nations football competition.

  • Informed sources told Echorouk that national coach Benchikha would most probably call up Algerian defender Belaid who plays with the French side of Sedan in order to replace Rafik Halliche who doesn’t play much with his English outfit of Fulham as well as Djamel Abdoun and the talented midfielder of the German Bundesliga squad of Mainz namely Amri Chedli with the aim of bolstering the Algeria midfield and defensive lines.

  •
  • Defender Nadir Belhadj is also widely believed to make his comeback within the national team.

  • The same sources added that Benchikha was also intent on beefing up the Greens’ attacking line by calling up seasoned Algerian strikers Aoudia who now plays with Egypt’s Zamalek and Ziaya who joined almost two years ago the Saudi team of Ittihad Djeddah.
