'Nationalization” of Chakib Khelil's properties in Algeria

Directorate General of State Property, frose the Properties of the former minister Chakib Khelil, temporary and precautionary parallel with the freezing of the property of his nephew and head of his bureau, Mohammad Reda Hameche, in an administrative procedure that would give the adjective “moratorium” on the property of these two people in Algeria, to prevent the waiver or selling of these properties before justice will take final decision in the case of Sonatrach, and suspicion of the involvement of Chakib Khelil and Mohammad Reda Hameche.

After nearly 3 weeks since the former Minister of Energy and Mines Chakib Khelil, left Algeria in public, without the intervention of the border police to stop him on the grounds that it is forbidden by law to leave the Algerian territory, the services of the state property intervened in the conduct of taking administrative and precautionary meaures, rather than legal, as the magazine “Jeune Afrique” quoted official sources as saying that the Directorate of State Property, froze the properties of Chakib Khelil, and his nephew Mohammad Reda Hameche, who previously served as head of his office,  – so to speak -. A measure that will cut the road of the concerned to sell their properties.

This measure raised relief among the key defendants in the case, led by the President and former Director General of the group, Mohamed Meziane, who waa placed under judicial control.
