Natural gas leak poses danger in eastern Algeria

Accidents relating to natural gas leak happened in Skikda province (east of Algiers) because of continuous high-pressure in natural gas liquefying units making large industrial disasters possible.

• In less than 6 months, over 7 accidents happened due to leaks in gas pipelines following high pressure, Echorouk has learnt.

• According to well-informed sources, some technicians wrote reports on the status of work inside these units but no one paid attention to their report.
• The explosion which happened there on January 19th 2004 killing 27 workers was expected because unit No 40 was out of work after big problems.
