New health prevention measures in quarries to secure workers’ life

Algerian Minister of health, population and hospitals reform, Ammar Tou is expected to present prevention and protection measures and procedures, which are applicable to persons who are employed in workshops of refining spare stones.

• Workers’ age and health status will remain very important requirements among measures binding for the public and private quarries’ owners operating in this field.

• Sources from health ministry said that the executive draft decree about prevention and protection is a legal framework that will be applied on owners in order to protect people working there, pointing out that health ministry’s statistics confirmed recently that this kind of activities usually have serious repercussions on peoples’ health status, and is the cause of many workers’ death because of illnesses, which show symptoms after the end of their work service.

• For his part, the minister of industry and investment promotion, Abdelhamid Tamar, will present the file on privatization and partnership, by mentioning the total proceeds realized after the investment laws amendments and revising privileges authorized for foreign investors, in the context of actions aiming at attracting foreign capitals and supporting investment in Algeria.
