New restructuring plan of Algerian industry to be announced soon

Industry and development promotion minister’s adviser, Mohammed Oueld Mohammedi Wednesday declared that the state promotions’ council will announce within few days the new restructuring plan for the public economic and industrial companies.

• This is the third industrial restructuring plan of its kind, since the setting up of the so called “Holdings” replaced, after proving its failure, by the management of the state’s participations companies set to disappear in the nearest future.
• The minister’s adviser declared that this new strategy aims at the creation of giant industrial poles as a transitory step, to transform the existing industrial consortiums the main locomotives of these poles. He gave the example of the giant pharmaceutical group “Saidal” as the pole of pharmaceutical industry, the national company of the industrial cars to lead the pole of cars’ manufacturing, the national company of electronics industry to start the pole of electronics and media technologies.
• For his part, the economist and minister’s adviser, Rafik Bouklia declared that the new industrial strategy doesn’t mean a return to the 1970s industrial model.
