New security plans to transfer money adopted

“Amnal” General Assembly, a group made of public banks and two public insurance companies, adopted new measures to secure banks and money transfers between agencies till the year 2010.

  • The group asked from the interior ministry permission to provide its security agents with bullet proof jackets to fend off criminal attacks and use the GPS system to track its vehicles while transferring money for the first time ever in Algeria.
  • “Amnal” dismissed an offer made by the international firm “Axxytranes” specialized in programmed monitoring systems which consists in transferring money in “explosive bags”, because too small for a market where the great majority citizens still use bank notes for their transactions.
  • Moreover, the interior ministry didn’t allow the use of these bags in Algeria for security measures. These bags are used in developed countries to transport top secret documents between government and economic institutions to assure secrecy. The bags are programmed to explode if someone tries to open them illegally.
  • Even though efficient, they still too small to carry a huge sum of money inside.
  • The interior ministry also refused to grant permission for the giant security firm “ Brinx” to invest in Algeria because its presence would require to bear arms for the personnel that it employs which is forbidden by the Algerian legislature.
