Nigerian Touaregs call on Algeria’s mediation to solve the conflict in the region

A movement, belonging to the Touareg tribes in Niger, called on Algeria to contribute to solve their crisis, as the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi attended a ceremony, where the northern armed group in Niger and Mali handed over their weapons.

  • The Movement of the Nigerians for Justice said, in its statement on the website, that it rejects the Libyan mediation, and appealed to Algeria to intervene and end the crisis of the Touaregs in Niger, drawing on the role played in 1990, when it succeeded in stopping the fighting in the Sahel region.
  •
  • A region south of Libya, hosted a ceremony of the Touaregs, living in the north of Niger and Mali, where the armed groups of the north of Mali and Niger announced peace following a mediation by the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, a year ago.
