Nouria Benghabrit: “Germany, France, Italy Apply Our Curriculum In Schools

National Education Minister, Nouria Benghabrit, said on the problematic of the non inclusion of Sports teachers in the fundamental school, in response to a written question by the MP Ahcene Oribi, that the Arabic language teachers are teaching all the educational activities that are planned for this stage, including the physical education activity, as they do this activity in an educational form, away from the perception that is based on the logic of training, taking into account the age of the pupil at this stage of education, which does not require the allocation of professors of physical education and sports at this stage.

Benghabrit added, in this context, that the educational curriculum for this educational activity provides the guidance and adequate advice that the Arabic language teacher uses in dealing with this activity with pupils, which is based mainly on sports.

“The total number of professors of physical education who are working in the sector is 15523 teachers, including 9905 teachers in intermediate education and 5618 teachers in the secondary education, while 809 teachers were employed since 2014, so the Education Minister contributes annually to the provision of jobs for graduates of universities in this specialization and equally with other disciplines of university graduations, although the main task of the sector is the education of generations and therefore its priorities are pedagogical primarily and not the absorption of unemployment”.

“The non-recruitment of specialists to teach physical education and sports, for the primary education, is governed by purely pedagogical aspects, that are mainly related to the nature of the practice”.

“The failure to assign physical education and sports in primary education to the primary school teacher, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Poland and Portugal follow Algeria’s approach in this field, stressing that the ministry attaches great importance to this article because of its benefits in the education of young people and values instilled in them.

“Moreover, the specificity of the primary stage requires that the primary school teacher studies all the subjects that are prescribed at this stage, except for the foreign language that is taught by a specialized teacher”.

“The failure to assign physical education and sports in primary education to specialized teachers is an option that is adopted by most countries, like Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Poland and Portugal, which follow the same trend of Algeria in this area. The Ministry attaches great importance to sports education because of its benefits in the education of youth and values that it instilled in them”.
