Number of terrorists declines in the main GSPC strongholds east of Algiers

The locality of Boumerdes, east of Algiers, noticed, during the recent period from mid-February and the beginning of this month, the largest outcome of the recent security plan that targeted the terrorist groups. 

• According to statistics by security sources in the locality, fourteen terrorists have been eliminated during the recent month, two were arrested and three others surrendered.
• The most important strongholds, which included the remnants of “Droudkel” fellows were the areas which noticed the largest number of eliminated terrorists, such as Bouzegza, Bouchakour, Ghazeroual, Sidi Daoud, Lekata and Mizrana.
• Algerian forces also destroyed ten caches in the same period, where ammunition, mattresses and food, as these results reflect the success of the security plan to bridge the gaps that Droudkel fellows used to escape, thing which weakened their positions.
• Echorouk sources add that the recent statistics by the joint security services show that the number of terrorists in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, do not exceed fifty, as it decreased by more than half compared to 2008.
• Terrorists were mostly distributed in the eastern part of the locality under intense siege since months.
• Observers to the security matters in Algeria said these terrorists will not be able to withstand more than a few months because the security services arrested most of the back up cells and blocked all means of communication between the terrorist battalions.
• This weakness in the terrorist organization “Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat” or AQIM is interpreted by the decrease of its activity, despite the locality of Boumerdes, east of Algiers, noticed the strongest terrorist attacks at the height of the criminal acts, as it includes the most dangerous battalions, and is a strategic hub fir Droudkel’s activity.
• Observers to the security matters think that this region is a model to the reality of the terrorist group which is active at the national level and what it is experiencing currently is not only in Boumerdes but also in other localities, it is a real death.
