Offshore works in Medgas pipeline completed
The offshore works on the Medgaz pipeline have been completed said the Algerian ministry of energy and mines today, in a press release.

“The works on the Algerian territory have been completed execpted a coppression plant in Beni Saf and the link between Almeria and Albacete in Sapain” said the ministry.

The Italian Saipem is in charge of achieving the offshore section of the pipeline. It streaches on 210 km and goes 1260 m in depth. The cost of the project amounts $ 900 million.

The Medgaz pipeline is designed to deliver some 8 billion m3 of Algerian gas per year to Europe via Spain. It is expected to start by 2009.

The Med gaz company is shared by Algerian state run oil company Sonatrach, the Spanish Cepsa Iberdrola, the French Gaz de France, and the Portuguese Endesa.
