Olympics- Algerian champion Haddad: “I offer bronze medal to all Algeriansâ€
Echorouk made an interview Sunday with Algerian Soraya Haddad just after wining the bronze in women's -52kg judo final at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Tell us about your feelings after you won?

“I am very happy. It is the best day of my life. I was in a very hard situation before the beginning and I knew I would reach the top of the scale but I was not sure. Now, I’m living the happiest moments.”

What were you thinking about?

“There were many images in my mind but the image of Algerians could not leave me. They and my family were waiting for a medal. That is why; I offer it to all Algerians wherever they are.”

You were close to the final if you passed the Chinese judoka. Tell us how this happened?

“I don’t know exactly what happened. It was a very difficult semi- final. I faced her before and it is really very difficult to win when your rival is playing in front of his people and fans”.

Are you satisfied with bronze?

“Of course, it is the first Algerian medal and it is great for the female judo in Africa. I hope things will go beyond this medal”.

How do you look to future?

“Now, my aim is to grab the Olympic golden medal. I have a lot of work and things will not finish here. I will work hard and bring joy to Algerians on every occasion”.
