Oragnised and united groups of Tuarges start ousting AQIM from region
A group of armed Tuaregs could defeat an armed groupaffiliated to Al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb. The two groups fought in a battle for the first time yesterday.
Echorouk sources in Mali said a fierce battle took place in the night of Thursday in the region of “Al Farsh” in northern Mali. The spoils for the Tuarges were three cars were in possession of the AQIM members without giving any details on casualties among the two parties.
Several parts of northern Mali witnessed the presence of a great number of four-wheel vehicles loaded with arms believed to be coming from Libya with Tuaregs who were loyal to late Gadhafi in his war against Libyan rebels.
In the same context it is believed Tuareg leaders in Mali and Niger decided to unite under one armed command to fight against AQIM and drive them out of the area.
French newspaper ‘’Le Monde’’ revealed in its latest edition that intelligence agencies from several countries decided to form a militia composed of Tuareg fighters returning from Libya, in order to face the “Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.”
The same newspaper revealed that the latest series of kidnappings who targeted mainly French nationals was due to AQIM attempt to put an end to this initiative as the trainers and instructors of those future anti-AQIM militia are French.
The newspaper described in a report the dangerous aspect of what is happening in the region in the light of the spread of large quantities of weapons smuggled from Libya. This has pushed several governments in many countries addressing the issue.
