Ould Abbas: Bouteflika will conduct his electoral campaign
Members of Algeria’s FLN party Saturday called on President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to run for office for a fourth term and speed up the constitutional amendment. They announced their support to the party’s Secretary General Amar Saidani regarding his recent remarks about the intelligence and his critisim of senior officials in the State.
In a release issued after a meeting, the FLN’s members said they support Bouteflika and call on him to run for office for a fourth term to “reach more prosperity and progress in our country and amend the Constitution as soon as possible.”
“The FLN always supports President Bouteflika’s program as he was able to show his traces in all the economic, social and cultural fields.”
The FLN’s leader said the party is “fine” and the forthcoming presidential elections will be a “happy event” for the Algerian people. “President Bouteflika will be the FLN’s candidates. The party wants the elections be held in transparency.”
Djamel Ould Abbas, member of the Council of the Nation said Bouteflika will supervise the presidential electoral campaign.
“We have indicators which show that President Bouteflika’s health is in good state and he can run for office for a fourth term. Because of that, we call on him to run for office. You will know that what I say is right in February 2014 when the campaign starts.”
“As long as former French President Jaques Chirac’s health condition improved before the presidential elections and he conducted an electoral campaign, Bouteflika’s health state will be better as well,” he added.
He also said that Bouteflika is treated by the same medical staff who looked after Chirac in 2005.
“I have sure information about the president’s health condition since April 28th. My personal sources say he is doing well.”
“The party wants Bouteflika to run for a fourth term and it is up to him to make a decision,” he added.
