Ould Kablia rules out approval of new political parties ahead of legislative polls
“The newly-created political parties waiting for official endorsement from the Interior Ministry should show more patience and I don’t think that new parties would be approved before the May 10th legislative elections”, the Minister of the Interior and local assemblies, Dahou Ould Kablia, told reporters Wednesday in Algiers.
- Speaking outside a session of the council of the nation devoted to the adoption of three draft laws, Mr Ould Kablia said the last deadline for the submission of the party candidates’ lists was set for next Monday, March 26th 2012.
- He further indicated that his ministerial department was studying the files of ten new political parties seeking official certification stressing however that time had run out for them to vie for the May 10th parliamentary polls as they should be legally approved 45 days before voting day.
- Mr Ould Kablia also said that the state would not finance, as claimed by some quarters, the election campaign to be waged by the various vying political parties stressing that they should secure their own financing sources in keeping with the laws and regulations.
