Ousserir to Echorouk: “The Fennecs should surmount the huge pressure to outplay Zambia in next World Cup qualifier”
Nassim Ousserir
In an exclusive interview with Echorouk, the goalkeeper of CR Belouizdad and the Algerian national squad, Nassim Ousserir, harks back to the preparation of the Fennecs in expectation of the crucial 2010 World cup qualifier versus Zambia slated for September 6th 2009 in Blida stadium.
-
Echorouk: Why have you chosen to pursue the qualifying matches for the 2010 World and Africa Cup of Nations competition in the Tchaker stadium of Blida instead of the 5th July Olympic stadium of Algiers?
-
Ousserir: The decision to come back to the Blida stadium was taken by the Algerian football federation in concertation with national coach Rabah Saâdane at the unanimous request of the players of the national squad.
-
Despite its recent renovation, the pitch of the 5th of July stadium is still not up to the mark and all the players asserted that they had some difficulty on it during the training sessions and mostly during the August 12th international friendly game versus Uruguay.
-
They find the pitch of the Blida stadium quite better and they are more accustomed to this play ground on which they secured several victories in the recent past.
-
Echorouk: What is your appreciation of the footballing potentialities of Mourad Meghni, the newly-capped midfielder of the Algeria line-up?
-
Ousserir: I should say that Meghni is a very good player. His remarkable performance with the Italian squad of Lazio of Roma is praiseworthy on all accounts. I am confident that he could bring a lot to the Algeria squad in the very near future once he gets accustomed to the team’s overall play style.
-
Echorouk: How do you brace up for the upcoming World cup qualifier in Blida versus the Zambia squad who made a dismal showing recently in a friendly match versus Ghana by losing 4 goals to 1. Are you then confident to win on September 6th?
-
Ousserir: Despite its heavy setback in a friendly game, the national Zambian team remains a serious contender.
-
I should point out that an official match is another story where everything can happen.
-
The Fennecs will have to surmount the huge pressure with all calm and serenity to outplay the Zambians who are widely expected to pull out all the stops during the decisive Blida match.
-
But, the Greens have the necessary means to carry the day once again with flying colours as they did in the away match in Zambia itself.
-
Echorouk: When are we going to see Nassim Ousserir as Algeria’s goalkeeper in official matches?
-
Ousserir: Life will tell. But I should say that I am training very hard with my club CR Belouizdad and with the national squad in the hope of being incorporated within the Algeria line-up in future official matches.
-
That’s my dearest wish!
