Ouyahia's Last Hours

Leaders of RND (National Democratic Rally) launched the post-era of Ahmed Ouyahia, by preparing a list of candidates to succeed him, and under an agreement about Abdelkader Bensalah as candidate for this task, the founding members attributed the withdrawal of Ouyahia and his resignation to the coup which was planned against him during thesession of the national council, which is enough to end his era, after names from his surroundings and men of confidence at the national office joined the “plot” along with the organizations which represent the party.

Echorouk Sources asserted that the resignation of Ouyahia and his step down from the secretariat of the National Democratic Alliance, was caused by a set of circumstances and facts similar to the data that ended the era of his predecessor Tahar Ben Baibache.

Same sources added that the acceleration of events in the last hours made Ouyahia certain that he will face the same fate of Ben Baibache, and that after being briefed of the broad of pulling confidence, which counted 127 signatures, including names that are very close to him, but not as much close and loyal to decision makers.

Echorouk sources said that Ben Saleh is expected to assume the leadership of the Secretariat on behalf of Ouyahia, and said explicitly that it is necessary that he assumed the task of running RND affairs at this particular time for several factors, including his expertise in this job, which he already assumed, as well as the agreement that he has within the Council and the confidence placed in him by the circles of power, and President Bouteflika, compared to his rival and Industry Minister Charif Rahmani, who does not have the

sameagreement.

The sources asserted that he needs the requirements of regional balances, like the Minister of Mujahideen Charif Abbas and Minister of Education Abu Bakr Ben Bouzid, whose names do not have enough weight in the political arena.
