Over 15 Million Pupils To Join Algerian Schools In 2030

Independent National Council for Teachers of the three educational phases CNAPEST concluded the summer university’s works, as the focus was on the role of trade unions in protecting the gains and to address all forms of restrictions on syndicates’ activity.

National Secretary in charge of information and communication at the syndicate, Messaoud Boudiba, told Echorouk, that 400 members participated in the activities of the university’s summer that was organised at Djenas El Aouana middle school in Jijel (eastern Algeria) for 6 days, where doctors and experts attended the lectures and discussed many “sensitive” files, which sparked controversy in the educational sector recently. 

He explained in the words of the consultant in labour relationships Boudarba Noureddine that what is promoted now that the retirement fund is threatened with bankruptcy and that “retirees” are the cause of it, is a great fallacy, and therefore the real cause of bankruptcy is the misuse of money and spending it in other areas than retirement . While he asserted that the initial readings of the new draft labour law state that the syndicates’ action would be subjected to harassment through prejudice with the gains, which would be a danger to workers.

For his part, Bachir Messeitfa, an economist who is specialised in prospective studies, organised a seminar of the “Summer University” about educational vigilance and prospectives about the future of the school, based on a prospective study that he did, said that the number of pupils will reach 15 million by 2030, calling to the need for a good preparation of the material and human capacities for the construction of a quality public school through the adoption of institutes and high schools for teachers’ training to keep pace with the technological and scientific technology.

Former official at the Ministry of National Education, Belhadj Hamza Saleh, asserted the need of not rushing to the application of educational reforms by adopting a “graduation” system to ensure its success without stumbling. As the focus during the summer university’s works was on restructuring the secondary education, which is the first priority and then restructuring the baccalaureate exam.
