Overwhelming majority supports Belkhadem, FLN memeber Belayat says
FLN Secretary-General, Abdelaziz Belkhadem, has the “vast majority” within the party’s Central Committee, which will hold its session on Thursday, in light of preparedness of the movement of change and rooting of the party to launch the initiative to withdraw confidence from Belkhadem, Abderrahman Belayat, member of the Political Bureau of the National Liberation Front said.
Belayat told Echorouk on Tuesday, that there is approximately 210 member who are still loyal to the current Secretary General, after the party’s ministers refused to join 220 signatures of those who renew confidence in Belkhadem, considering that the loyalists of Belkhadem represent the majority in the party, as the total members of the central Committee is estimated to 351 members.
The spokesman added the the number of ministers who belong to opponents are not eight, saying “calculating three of four ministers, it is in the fullest extent, the number of holdouts for signatures will not reach ten”, which may confirm new information that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rachid Benaissa, Minister of Post and communication technologies, Moussa Ben Hamadi, retreat from the statement which they signed along with ministers who called Abdelaziz Belkhadem, to step down from his post during the session of the central Committee.
“Belkhadem would renew the confidence through the polls, and there is no substitute for the present time. Opponents are like someone who is playing “hide and seek”. They do not have sufficient data.”
