PANAF: Algeria steps up security measure for Africans safety
The second Pan-African Festival (PANAF) organised in Algeria will end on Monday amid tighten security measures meant to foil any terrorist attempt against the African participants.
-
The National Gendarmerie forces and the police have been mobilised to make sure that all the participants come back home after many of them tried to stay in Algeria illegally.
-
A security official said the security plan can not be assessed only after all the participants leave the country safe and sound.
-
About 8,400 people including 8,000 Africans took part in the festival. Security forces were mobilised to ensure their safety and their shelters.
-
“Security forces foiled terrorist plan meant to target the event amid remarkable presence of foreign media,” a security official told Echorouk.
-
“Security forces have been launching a campaign against terror support cells since the attacks on the Constitutional Council and the UN refugee agency in late December 2007,” he added.
