Paranoid Egyptians call for sending paratroopers to protect their fans in Angola

Intervening on the Egyptian Satellite Channel “Nile Sport” some overzealous fans have called on the Egyptian authorities to send a squad of paratroopers to Benguella, Angola in order to “ensure the security of their fans in from the Algerians”; They have called for urgent measures in order “ to avoid the Oum Dermen’s slaughters” in the wake of the play off match between Algeria and Egypt.

• In this respect, the head of the Popular Sport’s Committee, Hassen Sakr yesterday conferred with 24 Egyptian clubs’ managers to discuss tomorrow’s semi-finals between Algeria and Egypt. It has been decided to send “hundreds” of “Hooligans” also known in Egypt as “Al Altrass”.

• 1- Send “ security forces” with the Egyptian fans to Angola in order  “ to protect them from the Algerian” and face up to the “unsteady” security situation out there; the “Commando” should go unnoticed and wear civilian clothes in order to avoid Oum Darmen scenario ( the Egyptians still stick on their view that the Algerian authorities have sent “troops” to Khartoum).

• 2- To schedule the match in Benguella stadium, with empty bleachers, so as to avoid clashes between the two countries’ fans.

• 3- Call on the Angolan authorities to deny visas for the Algerian fans and Egyptians alike in order to dissuade them to move to this country and avoid clashes, according to the Egyptian side.

• This unrealistic request comes after the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s denial to fulfil the demand expressed by the Head of the Egyptian Football Federation, Samir Zaher to send security forces to Angola in a bid to protect the Egyptian delegation.

• The Egyptian authorities have indicated that “ The Egyptian delegation is fully protected and the situation is under control, however, thus there isn’t any threatening danger looming over the Egyptian delegation and the fans”.

• It should be noted that Samir Zaher has sent an “SOS” to the Egyptian authorities, in the wake of the tragic terrorist attack carried out by separatists on the Togolese team before the competition, saying that “ His national team was in danger and needed protection from the Egyptian security forces”. The call hit the Egyptian headlines at this time.

• For his part, the head of the Egyptian delegation, General Safie Eddine Bessiouni has officially called on the African Football Confederation (CAF) to “tighten security on the Algerian players to avoid any tragic event during the match versus Egypt on account of the heightened sensitivity between the two countries in the wake of the disqualification of the Egyptian side from the world Cup competition”.
