Parliament to create a commission to investigate on real causes of Algerian food riots
Algiers-MPs adopted Wednesday a resolution for the creation of a commission of inquiry into rising prices for some foodstuffs in the domestic market.
The plenary session chaired by Abdelaziz Ziari, speaker of Parliament said the Commission is working to investigate the failures that marked the domestic market recently due to shortages of some wide food consumption, such as milk and rising prices of oil and sugar.
The Commission will also work to determine the ins and outs of the crisis through investigating with all parties concerned including the finance, agriculture, commerce and transportation and importers, producers, distributors and wholesalers and retailers.
Labor party’s MPs left the session before the voting on the list, which was interpreted as a rejection of Louiza Hanoune to the proposal initiated by the presidential coalition, without declaring it explicitly, in light of the absence of the RCD and the ANF in the lower chamber of parliament because they both boycott the parliamentary sessions.
