Pentagon confirms Algerian detainees release from Guantanamo
The Pentagon said the transfer of the Algerian detainees is a unique step made by the US administration.
U.S. administration Wednesday transferred two Guantanamo Algerian detainees from Cuba to Algeria, said the US Defence Department without giving more details on their identities.

The US Defence Department did not say in a statement published Wednesday on its website whether the Algerian authorities received the detainees or not.

According to the Pentagon, they insisted on their transfer to Algeria after they had been subjected to a series of health and psychological examinations, which is a normal procedure.

“It is a unique step made by the US administration because it decided to release detainees in war times,” said the Pentagon.

It meant the US war on Iraq considering it as a “war on terrorism” using American terminology.
