Pitch to determine winner in Algeria vs Egypt match, says Platini

The pitch will decide in the match Algeria vs Egypt as part of the final qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, according to UEFA boss.

• “Egypt has won the African Champion league twice and qualification will be difficult for both teams, but at the end the pitch will determine the winner,” Michel Platini told Echorouk in an interview in Doha.
• He said he is ready to discuss the situation of the Algerian football at the UEFA if a comprehensive political decision is issued.
• Speaking on the 1982 World Cup in Spain, Platini believes the only solution for Austria and West Germany for qualification was making arrangement beforehand.
• The two teams advanced to the next round at the expense of Algeria which was playing in its first World Cup.
• Platini says both teams’ interest in any match is the key point. “If their interest is to have 0-0, they will automatically agree on that.”
• “That always happens and without arrangement.”
