Police keeps watch on narcotics in Algeria

Narcotics in Algeria are under security surveillance totally like explosives due to their danger, a police high ranking officer said.

  •
  • “Chemists must show their sales registers to the police to know about quantities of sold narcotics and who consume them,” said the officer.
  •
  • Algeria’s judicial police arrested 3,322 suspects in 2,253 drug and narcotic smuggling cases in January-June 2008. A total of 4, 7204 narcotics were seized in the same period.
  •
  • Earlier in November, anti-drug organization chief Aissa Guacemi said 113 tons of drugs were smuggled from Morocco to Europe across Algeria in January-September 2008. Of them, 17 tons were seized by Algerian security forces.
