Police search for 5,000 missing people in Algeria

Data bank of Algerian Police includes about 5,000 special files on people who have been reported missing in mysterious circumstances.

• The Police counted 4,576 missing people-related cases from males and females with different ages including 90 and 10-year-old people. Some insane and handicaps who abandoned their houses in unknown and confusing conditions are reported missing by their families as well.
• Security officials said these figures do not reflect reality because some families hesitate to report their relatives missing or do not inform the police in case they find them. When it comes to girls who fled from their houses for different reasons, families prefer to keep silent about that.
• Police forces counted many mentally and physically ill missing children. Some men and women aged between 88 and 94 who were lost as they likely suffer from Alzheimer.
