Popular and religious celebration in Jordan for appointing Ghaleb Algeria’s archbishop

The city of Adjloun in Jordan few days ago celebrated the appointment of Ghaleb Badr as the Roman Catholic archbishop of Algeria succeeding Henry Tessier who had resigned.

A number of Algeria and North African priests attended the celebration headed by Henry Tessier, papal Ambassador to Algeria, archbishops of Oran (west of Algeria), Constantine (east of Algeria) and Morocco. They were all were present in Jordan, in addition to Algerian Embassy’s members in Amman.

Some sources said the new archbishop Ghaleb Badr will begin his duties in Algeria on October 10th. He will be accompanied by a popular church delegation to participate in his appointment ceremony after Edwardian, his hometown had celebrated his promotion by Pope Benedict XVI to a higher position.

On this occasion, Henry Tessier, who served 36 years as bishop in Algeria, expressed his support and love for his Jordanian successor Ghaleb Badr.
