President Bouteflika chaired a meeting devoted to the evaluation of the Interior Sector and Local administration

Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, chaired a meeting devoted to the evaluation of the Interior Sector and Local Government, in the context of annual hearings he conducts on the activities of various ministries, APS news agency reports here on Wednesday. 

• The report presented by the Minister of Interior and Local Government, Dahou Oueld Kablia, focused on the following items:
• –  Finalization of institutional reforms with the main revision of both the Code of municipality and locality, as well as other draft laws.
• -Improvement and modernization of public services.
• -Improvement and qualification of human resources.
• – Boosting efforts of local administration for development.
•    
• Considering the socioeconomic and political evolution in the country, the reform of legal system through the revision of laws relating to municipalities and provinces, aims at improving the organization and running of the territorial administration, namely through:
• -Taking into account the need for coherence of administrative organization forms as well as considering the “proximity” and its requirements for the organization systems, management, and responsibility mainly in the implementation of the local development programme.
• –  Better clarification of reports of different bodies elected within each others and with the administration.
• -Enhancement of the elected status.
• –  Introduction of the participatory management to involve citizens in the management of affairs of his community.
• -A clearer definition of the conditions for exercise of statutory acts of elected bodies.
•  Alongside these reforms, it should include the implementation of measures related to modernization and security of travel documents and identity. The identity document to be implemented in the framework of this project, the biometric national identity card and features for security measures.
• Measures are also planned to improve the reception conditions of citizens, and to create conditions for the revitalization of associations and involvement in local activities.
• Concerning the local development, these actions are part of the presidential program which aims to improve the living environment, economic recovery and employment.
• President Bouteflika launches a series of meetings in various sectors during the begining of month of Ramadan. 
• Yesterday in Algiers he chaired a broad – based meeting bringing together the heads of various security services with the aim of making an overall assessment of the unflagging struggle against the scourge of terrorism and other forms of criminality across the national territory. He also led a government meeting dedicated to energy and mining sectors on Monday.
