President Bouteflika stands in silent remembrance of Revolution martyrs

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Monday stood in silent remembrance at Maqam al Shahid (Martyrs' sanctuary) in the memory of the martyrs of the glorious National Liberation War, which broke out on 1st November 1954.

After reviewing a detachment of the Republican Guard, President Bouteflika laid a wreath before the memorial stele and recited the Fatiha Surah (The Opening) of the Holy Qur’an in the memory of the chouhada (martyrs).

The remembrance ceremony was attended by Council of the Nation’s Speaker Abdelkader Bensalah, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly Abdelaziz Ziari, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, Head of the Constitutional Council Boualem Bessaih, Minister Delegate to Minister of National Defence Abdelmalek Guenaizia, and Chief of Staff Ahmed Gaid Salah, in addition to members of the Government.
