President Bouteflika warns against the use by terrorists of satellite maps provided by Internet websites

President Abdellaziz Bouteflika has warned against the use by terrorist groups of the data and information supplied by the satellite maps available at will on the Internet Websites.

• The head of state stressed the imperious necessity of taking urgent steps to prevent these groups from having access to such sensitive information.

• President Abdellaziz Bouteflika said that the international community had the bounden duty to act without further delay by classifying such data and information related to satellite maps with the aim of preventing terrorist groups from using them in their criminal designs and schemings.

• President Bouteflika referred in this connection to the website “Gool earth” which could be used by the terrorist groups as this website provides minute and precise satellite maps of all places on planet earth.

• The head of state also sent a message read out on his behalf by foreign minister Mourad Medelci to the 65^th session of the UN General Assembly in which he condemned the payment by any country of ransoms to terrorist groups in exchange for prisoners’ release in the light of a relevant draft resolution tabled by Algeria number 19.04 and later adopted by the UN security council by a large majority of votes.
