Presidential funeral for Ali Kafi, mourning for eight days

Former head of the State’s Supreme Council, Colonel Ali Kafi, passed away on Thursday after illness, at the age of 85 years, and besomes the third president which Algeria lost in one year, after Ahmed Ben Bella and Chadli Ben Jedid.

 
APS quoted a statement that was issued by the Presidency of the Republic, as saying that the commander of the second historical wilaya, died in Geneva, Switzerland, as other sources said that Kafi was transfered on Monday night to the military hospital of Ain Naadja urgently.
Same statement added that the corpse of the late President will be introduced at the People’s Palace, on Wednesday morning, to enable officials and citizens to say last goodbies to the late president, before burial in the square of martyrs in Alia cemetry, on the evening of the same day.
 
 
Algerian authorities have declared mourning for eight days.
 
Ali Kafi, is the fifth President of Algeria, and he held the position of the first judge in the transitional period between 1992/1994, after the assassination of the fourth presidents, Mohamed Boudiaf, who was brought from Morocco to fill the constitutional vacuum, that was caused by the resignation of  the former late President Chadli Ben Jedid, in January 1992, in what was known at the time as the Supreme State Council.
