Price of bread officially rises to 10 Dinars

Sources from within the commission oriented to study the proposals of bakers at the level of the Ministry of Commerce, said a joint proposal for raising the price of bread to 10 dinars was reached, as the Commission launched investigations in the western cities of Algeria, which resulted in assessing the real price of bread, waiting for proposals in the Southern cities that will be represented by Bachar, as well as the eastern cities of the country, that will represented by Constantine.

According to available information, the Committee which is consisting of representatives from the Commerce and Finance Ministries, and the National Union of bakers, as well as the Algerian professional office of cereals, in addition to the industrial complex Riyadh, the “Foundation of food industries, cereals and derivatives”, have presented many proposals that will be on the agenda of the government as soon as it will be prepared, before the ratification and application in the field.

In the same regard, a media official at the Ministry of Commerce, said on Sunday, in a phone call to Echorouk, that the real price of bread at the moment remains in the range of 7.5 dinars, calling citizens who buy it with higher price to report it to the regional services of the ministry, and on raising the price of bread to 10 dinars, the spokesman said; until the very time the Commission continues expanding its proceedings, as they are studying the true cost of bread, pointing out that bread is regulated and in case if making changes in the price, the matter will required several steps, asserting that the ministry has worked in the past to maintain the current price of bread, and deal with it in the context of abolition of the tax on the environment and provide loans for activists in the field to buy adapters, as other solutions are currently discussed, including reviewing the price of  flour and reduced it to a lower price, in addition to the adoption of industrial bakeries.
