Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal pledges to catch up the housing units’ deficit

The Prime Minister Abdlmalek Sellal has revealed that the Algerian authorities have estimated the deficit of housing units across the country to 1.5 million noting that this deficit could be caught up by the end of next year.

Meanwhile, he announced the delivery of some 45 thousand new housing units over the next three months considering this issue of housing as the main priority of the government for the time being.

Talking to journalist at the airport of Annaba upon his return to Algiers the day before yesterday, the minister has indicated that delay registered in the completion of the different housing programs is mainly due to the failure of the private and national companies to abit by their commitments.

The deficit, Sellal went on saying, has prompted the Algerian authorities to create joint- ventures like the Algerian- Portuguese and Algerian – Spanish companies with the view to remedying the situation.

He has further indicated that the creation of new poles would be the most appropriate way to offset the deficit in housing units noting that the new town will solve the problem of real –estates scarcity.
