Privatization was a mistake, Algerian president says

Algerian president, Abdelaziz bouteflika, acknowledged that the privatization process followed by Algeria was a big mistake declaring” the road to heaven promised by some prescriptions was not the way it was meant to be , because the prescriptions were not fair and didn’t take into account the specificities of the Algerian society”.

• The president added that partnership doesn’t mean privatization and companies’ lay- offs without return, the government is ready to transform these companies to schools or mosques if necessary.
• The president insisted on personal initiative from local authorities while taking decisions, saying that it was impossible to turn to the central government to solve problems while it is the duty of the local authorities to do it.
