Pt Bouteflika backs Sellal’s government and calls for dialogue in Ghardaia
Evoking the recent inter-community skirmishes in the city of Ghardaia in Southern Algeria, President Abdellaziz Bouteflika has insisted on “dialogue and tolerance” in order to pave the way for a speedy return to calm and quietude in the province.
The head of state stressed the necessity of enshrining the values of tolerance, concord and dialogue as advocated by the religion of Islam as well as the secular virtues of solidarity and unity which constitute the bulwark of the Algerian society.
President Bouteflika added that every Algerian citizen, whether male or female, should make prevail under all circumstances, the principles of love, respect and brotherhood.
He also expressed support for the Sellal government stressing that the latter should pursue its endeavour by being close to the citizens in order to ensure the population’s well-being as part of a harmonious development on the economic, social and cultural plans.
