Pt Bouteflika returns to Val- De-Grâce hospital in Paris for medical check-up

Algerian President Abdellaziz Bouteflika left on Monday Algiers for Paris to undergo a routine medical check-up at the French military hospital of Val-De-Grâce, a communiqué from the Presidency of the Republic announced on Tuesday.

According to the communiqué, “the general health condition of the head of state is steadily improving”.

“In order to complete his track health record, initiated in Algiers as part of a routine medical examination set and programmed since June 2013, the President of the Republic, Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika, arrived at the Val-De-Grâce hospital in Paris on Monday 13^th January 2014 and will stay there until Friday January 17^th 2014”, the communiqué underscored.

The same source added that no emergency procedure had dictated this trip, expected and set on the agenda since President Bouteflika’s medical stay at the Invalides National Institution in the French capital Paris during his convalescence period last year. In the communiqué, his doctors put forth “a completion of his track health record”.

To this effect, political observers surmise that President Bouteflika has returned to Paris so as to secure a “blank cheque” from his French doctors about his bill of health and to embark at will  upon a fourth straight presidential mandate.

This lingering question is still anybody’s guess and clears the way for all types of rumours and scenarios among the Algerian population.

The convening of the electorate slated probably for January 17^th 2014, barring further notice, will logically unveil the withheld political ambitions of several challengers of incumbent President Abdellaziz Bouteflika if he ever decides to run for a fourth term at the helm of the nation. Life will tell !
