Rachid Aouin: “If our social claims are spurned, we’ll take over the political arena

The Coordinator of the National Committee for the defense of the rights of the unemployed in Algeria, Rachid Aouin, has called a national protest rally on September 28th describing this momentous day as the “day of wrath”.

After winding up an inspection tour of several provinces of the country where he inquired about the social situation of the jobless people at the various local employment agencies, Mr Aouin said in case the pending social concerns of those unemployed were not addressed seriously by the government, he threatened to turn these social claims into political ones.

He stressed that the social situation of the unemployed notably the youth in Algeria was going from bad to worse adding that this current worrying juncture could further exacerbate and a reach a flash point with nefarious repercussions on the country’s cohesion and stability. 

Rachid Aouin finally appealed to the government to open a frank and direct dialogue with the committee representatives in the hope of thrashing out a remedial solution to the lingering unemployment scourge which is besetting large sections of the youth population in Algeria.
