Abdelaziz Rahabi and Mohamed Arezki Ferrad rejected the idea that the political initiative which they will raise to the President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, regarding respect for deadlines of the upcoming presidential elections, and not to make any amendment to the Constitution before the elections, as an intervention in the context of settling accounts with Bouteflika, or to support the former Prime Minister Ali Benflis.

Both politicians, along with the retired colonel Ahmad Adimi, agree that the President Bouteflika should not amend the constitution before the presidential elections of April 2014, not to settle accounts with Bouteflika, or to lead a prior election campaign in the favor of the candidate who is supposed to win the presidential elections 2014, the former Secretary General of the National Liberation Front (FLN), Ali Benflis, considering that Rehabi and Adimi were affiliated with Benflis in the Presidential elections 2004.

This initiative came out of patriotism that is enjoyed by the owners of the initiative, after receiving indications of the seriousness of the situation in Algeria, in the wake of what happened to FLN and circumstances in which Amar Saadani was appointed secretary general of the old party, and changing the government six months before the date of the presidential elections.

Echorouk guests asserted that the initiative falls under the claim to respect the principle of rotation of power, and agreed to say that their position is not political, adding that “seeking to perpetuate the principle of rotation of power is at the heart of Democratic Action and the heart of the principles of democracy.”
