Raouraoua:”Vahid Halilhodzic will remain Desert Warriors' Coach”

Head of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Mohamed Raouraoua confirmed his adherence to keep Vahid Halilhodzic as Algeria’s coach, at least until the end of his contract next July, after the World Cup 2015 in Brazil.

“Vahid Halilhodzic is subjected to severe pressure recently and he needs a rest for the moment”.

Previously, news about an imminent separation between officials of the FAF and the coach Vahid Halilhodzic, because of the many problems that surfaced between the two parties, most notably the issue of the exclusion of certain players like Belfoudil and Boudebbouz, long with criticisms that were made by the coach to the FIFA in his recent press conference, despite the warnings by Raouraoua, which blew over the situation between the two parties.

Raouraoua said in an exclusive statement to Echorouk TV on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the ceremony, which was organized by the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal at Djenan Al Mithak; “Vahid Halilhodzic is staying with us until the 2014 World Cup. Currently, we should give him a rest period after hard work during the World Cup qualifiers, as he was subjected to intense pressure.”

Raouraoua has defended Halilhodzic after the exclusion from the first round in the Africa Cup of 2013, and it seems that the same thing could be repeated this time, despite the many errors that were committed by the Bosnian coach.

“FAF” signed with Halilhodzic a contract for coaching the “greens” from July 2011 to the same month in 2014, with an intention to extend his contract until 2015 or 2017 so as to help the team prepare in the best conditions for Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and Libya.

Halilhodzic:”I want to honor my contract with Algeria”

“I strongly refuse to abandon my task. I do not want to leave the Algerian National Team. I want to go to the World Cup and honor my contract until the end.”

Previously, Vahid Halilhodzic has expressed concern of the repeated scenario of Ivory Cost in 2010, as despite being able to lead the elephants to the World Cup in South Africa, but he found himself away from the team in the finals, after officials of the Ivorian Federation decided to abandon his services after exclusion by the greens in the quarter-finals (CAN 2010).
