Bou Abdellah Ghoulam Allah, Algeria's Religious Affairs Minister

The ideological conflict between the Algerian religious authorities and the Salafi trend has apparently reached its peak because the relevant ministry has recently issued booklets and dispatched them in the mosques to counterattack the precepts of the Salafi movement.

The content of this document are regarded by the Algerian religious authorities as the basic foundations of the Algerian unity and any attempt to question or reconsider them, is considered as a threat against the country’s stability likely to spread dissentions among the Algerian citizens.

The first batch contains three booklets written by Mohammed Aissa and Abdelouahab Mehia in which they clarify some fundamental precepts that have been challenged by the Salafis arguing that have no existence in Islam.

A second batch is set to be released soon to put the number of booklets to 500 reflecting the number of conflicting issues between what the ministry calls the ” National Religious Background” and the ideology of the Salafi movement.
