“Renault” Factory to be constructed in Mostaghanem, Trade Minister says
Trade Minister, Mohammed Ben Merradi, spoke about reaching an agreement with the French car manufacturer, “Renault” about the place of building the company’s factory in Algeria, after the French rejection of the proposed industrial zone “Belara” presented by the Algerian government, and their adherence to the industrial zoneof “ Rouiba”.
Ben Merradi, told Echorouk, that the agreement with the French car producer “Renault” provides for the construction of the factory in Mostaganem (west of Algeria), and this after a series of negotiations for more than two years between the two parties, adding that the Algerian government refused the request of “Renault” to establish its factory in the industrial region “Rouiba”.
Algerian government supported its position with a desire for a regional balance, but the French part provides economic justification.
The industrial zone of Mostaganem was chosen due to a number of technical data, including the availability of Salah port, where medium and large size boats for importing equipment for the cars industry, and the geographical proximity of Morocco’s Tangier port, which is very close to Renault, which proceeded in exporting French Renault cars, under the commercial mark “Logan”, which directed 85% of its production to the European market.
“The French part refused to set up the factory in Jijel (eastern Algeria) because of the lack of tissue for institutions specialized in handling, and due to the lack of sufficient manpower, and the absence of adequate infrastructure to provide a framework that is suitable for technicians and foreign workers in the isolated area “Belara”, according to the French experts who visited the region many times since 2010″, Trade Minister said.
The Algerian authorities and “Renault” on manufacturing cars that will be directed to the Algerian market, opposite to Tangier factory, which directs its production to the European market .
