Repentant evokes precarious situation inside terrorist organization

A terrorist who surrendered to Gendarmerie forces in the locality of Behnin in Tlemcen province (600 km western Algeria), tells about the precarious condition the his group is living.

  • Abdelhak was a member of a terrorist group called the Sunni Squad, he referred to the tough inner situation prevailing in his organization due to weapons and ammunitions’ shortages, adding that the elimination of the Morocco born terrorist “Rabli”, who was the main supplier of the group from the Moroccan borders.
  • The young terrorist, who started his activities since less than a year, and whose father and brother were also active members within the same organization before being eliminated by the National Popular Army troops; revealed that backup networks as well as means of transportations were reduced to nil.
  • As to the terrorists, whose total number doesn’t exceed 11, he declared that they were feeling very down. They are scattered around “Mizab” mountains, Tadjerra, Al Assfour and the forest region of Souk Al Arbaa.
  • The terrorists are compelled to plunder the surrounding farms stealing livestock to survive as a consequence of a large- scale military operation implemented in the region, crowned by the drying up of the main supply sources.
  • Abedelhak (26), who joined the terrorist organization the ”Protectors of Salafit Preaching” in 2007, declared that he decided to surrender to local security authorities because he realized that life in the mountains was very tough especially after a slew of terrorists’ eliminations by security forces, forcing many of them to reconsider their strategy and move to the region of Boumerdes (70 km from Algiers), a GSPC stronghold with the view to reactivating terrorist backup networks against a backdrop of  a deep resentment expressed by the populations against Droudkel’s unconventional methods including suicide attacks, lootings and abductions.
  • The repentant revealed that the group’s leadership mentors were such a prominent Islamic figures like Ibn Bazz, Ibn Al Othaymine and, Ibn Taymia.
