Report shows wrongdoings at Algeria agriculture ministry

Public money was squandered at the Algerian agriculture ministry, public deals were concluded by mutual agreement without respecting the law on public deals, properties were illegally sold and officials got cars of the ministry, finance general department report says.

Fraud cases in budget were discovered as accountancy standards were not respected, three old accounts were not justified and three budgets were not approved.

The same report shows that hotel invoices of some officials and their wives were paid and cars repairing bills were exaggerated.

Phone invoices of many executives at the ministry were also paid and salaries were paid to people who have nothing to do with the ministry.

The report said unjustified expenses were estimated at about 5.2 billion centimes.

An accord was made by mutual agreement with a French company without announcing an international call for tender to buy 182 British horses. The 680,000-euro-deal is not in conformity to the presidential decree No 250-2 related to public deals including articles 20, 23, 39 and 43. The finance general inspection department found out that the purchasing process was carried out in an illegal way and by mutual agreement.
