RND and FLN in fierce war for Bouteflika’s electoral campaign
Appointment of directors of the Algerian president’s electoral campaign in provinces has caused tensions between the National Democratic Rally (RND) and the National Liberation Front (FLN).
-
The FLN is accusing its ally in the presidential coalition of having taken the most important provinces.
-
Secretary General of the party, Abdelaziz Belkhadem asked the campaign director Abdelmalek Sellal to give clear justifications about that appointment.
-
An atmosphere of anger dominated the FLN which believes it has been marginalised in terms of the appointment of campaign directors.
-
According to a preliminary list, the most densely populated provinces have been attributed to the RND including Annaba, Constantine, Oran and the capital Algiers.
-
Belkhadem refused that his party is excluded from the general administration of the electoral campaign headed by Sellal.
-
He stressed the necessity of reviewing those appointments which harmed, according to him, the position of his party.
-
On the other hand, the RND totally denied those allegations, saying it gained only 10 provinces while more than 22 were attributed to the FLN.
