RND joins opposition, warns government of an economic policy

Former Finance Minister, Abdelkarim Harchaoui, criticized the MPs who like populism in discussing the draft financial laws, such as asking for tax cuts without proposing alternatives to guarantee the stability of the budget, revealing that the turmoil in the neighboring countries forced the government to pump large amounts of money to enhance security in the southern borders.

In the study day that was organized on Tuesday by the parliamentary bloc of RND party (Rally for National Democracy), Harchaoui explained the way to discuss the Finance Act, saying he is sorry because unlike in developed countries, MPs in Algeria do not benefit from the services of specialized institutes which provide analysis and correct readings of numbers, to enable the MP to propose a correct policy.

“As provided for in Article 121 of the Constitution, which imposes on the government as well as the Parliament not to increase or decrease in expenditures or reduction of income of treasury without taking compensatory measures, like asking for tax cuts or pumping additional funds for the completion of projects. To enrich the finance bill we must take into account the respect for financial balances of the government, because the imposition of drastic changes that negatively affects the direction of the budget. The debate at the level the parliament is often subject to political influences”.
