Ronaldo chosen world player by fellows

Members of the world players’ union, FIFPro chose Manchester United winger Portuguese Christiano Ronaldo as best player in the world for 2008.

• Portuguese International Christiano Ronaldo is also nominated to win the prestigious World best player 2008 award from FIFA, as well as UEFA European footballer of the year prize the “Golden Ball”.
• “To be recognised by my fellow professional players’ worldwide coming from over 50.000 players is amazing,” the 23 years old Manchester United star said.
• “I would like to thank my team-mates and coaches and everyone involved at Manchester United and the national team, as well as my family and friends for their support. Thank you also to FIF Pro for this award and for your work in protecting the interests and welfare of players around the world”, Christiano added.
