Saâdani to Belkhadem: «Forget about taking up the FLN party’s reins again»
The FLN Party Secretary General, Amar Saâdani, has affirmed that incumbent President Abdellaziz Bouteflika will stand as candidate for the upcoming presidential elections after the convening of the national electorate expected on January 17th 2014.
The FLN Party Secretary General made the announcement Sunday afternoon during a press conference at the party’s headquarters after his botched rally held on Saturday at the 5th of July cupola hall on the heights of Algiers.
During this encounter with journalists, the debate revolved essentially upon the next presidential polls and the burning file of the constitution revision. Amar Saâdani has of late made these two topics his Trojan horse on the national political scene.
Confronted with a legitimacy crisis since his disputed designation at the head of the party, Amar Saâdani expressed his deep conviction that Bouteflika would vie for a straight Presidential mandate, stressing that the latter was waiting for the official convening of the electorate to announce publicly his candidacy.
“Bouteflika is synonymous with stability and development”, Amar Saâdani underscored.
He also pointed out that the FLN Party had the legitimate right to require the revision of the current constitution before the holding of the Presidential elections next April.
Concerning the uproarious presence of former FLN Party Secretary General, Abdellaziz Belkhadem, at Saturday’s rally, Amar Saâdani said that certain media outlets wanted to turn this minor development into a salient event.
Amar Saâdani sought to belittle this disrupting mishap and stressed that Abdellaziz Belkhadem, through his vain manoeuvrings, must forsake the idea of taking up again the reins on the FLN Party, as he put it.
