Saidani asks to meet President Bouteflika
Secretary General of the Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saidani Sunday held an emergency meeting of the party’s political office to understand what is happening in the political arena as his rivals want to dismiss him before the end of the month.
Saidani who has supported Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s fourth term since he succeeded Belkhadem found himself isolated more than ever. He asked to meet Bouteflika personally to know about his final position concerning the next presidential elections and the constitutional amendment.
He called for the constitutional amendment and creating the position of Vice-President before the presidential elections in 2014. Observers believe that he wanted that position.
The FLN’s Secretary General declared war on everyone and criticized the military institution, intelligence department and the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
His rivals announced that he will have to quit the FLN in January as they collected more than 200 signatures in less than two months in support to his dismissal. That means Saidani’s allegations that he is protected by senior authorities are baseless.
