Saidani: I got elected by central commission members majority to be FLN’s leader

Member of Algeria’s National Liberation front (FLN) Amar Saidani told Echorouk in an interview he got elected by the majority of the party central commission to succeed Abdelaziz Belkhadem as the FLN’s leader.

Are you sure that you will be the FLN’s Secretary General?

That has not been decided yet. I wish the all the best to Algeria and the FLN.

Do you mean that the FLN’s central commission is still opposing you?

Actually, I have been congratulated from the majority of the commission members for being the perfect candidate to hold that position.

When will be the final decision?

Session office will hold a meeting on Saturday to fix a date for the central commission extraordinary session. Then, the date and place will be known.

Do you believe that you can replace late Bouhara?

Late Abderrezak Bouhara was a leading member at the FLN. Yet, he passed away when we needed him. I believe that there are many qualified people in the party. Bouhara is one the irreplaceable.

Do you consider yourself as the Front’s savior from division?

The FLN’s members must be proud of their different points of view. The party was a model of democracy. Former leaders left and the FLN remained unified and strong. I know that there are some people who want me to be the party’s Secretary General and there are those who are against that. This is democracy. I will deal with everyone within the same vision.
