Saifi awarded “Algerian Best Player of the Year”

Lorient midfielder Rafik Saifi, was awarded Monday evening “Algerian best player 2008” during the 8th edition of the award created by the Algerian sport newspapers “Le buteur” and “El Haddaf”.  

• Saifi was awarded Algerian “Golden Ball” , Algiers.
• “I’m very happy and proud with this trophy which is the out come of many years of work,” Saifi said.
• “A lot of people contributed to this award including team-mates in Lorient and Algerian national team members, as well as coaches who trained me along my football career both in Algeria and abroad. I granted this trophy for my parents who were behind realising my dreams,” he added.
• Rafik Saifi, 33 years, began his career with MC Algiers in 1988, before joining French Troyes, where he played from 1999 to 2004. He joined Lorient where he scored 14 goals during season 2007/2008, before joining Istres then Ajaccio.
• Saifi was on top of the list with 447 points, then Lamouri 437 pts and international Antar Yahia 362 pts.
• During the same ceremony, international goal keeper, Lounes Guaouaoui, from Annaba club, was awarded “Best goal keeper 2008” with 553 pts.
